2014 Porsche Cayman S! Is the Lightest Porsche Now the Best Porsche? [Ignition Episode 73]

On this episode of Ignition, Carlos Lago gets behind the wheel of the newest iteration of Porsche’s Cayman line, the 2014 Porsche Cayman S. After some twisty road driving, Carlos meets up with pro driver Randy Pobst at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca to discuss the capabilities of the new Cayman on the track. It’s track ready, balanced, and can go from 0-60 in 4.2 seconds… but is it worth it’s fully loaded six figure price tag?

First previewed on its Boxster platform-mate, and shown at last year’s Los Angeles Auto Show, the new Cayman looks more aggressive than its predecessor. From the 918 Spyder-aping looks to the scalloped air intakes on the doors to the silicone-injected hips, the car looks buffer. It’s larger, too. The wheelbase has been stretched by 2.4 inches, while the overhangs on either end have been shortened by 10mm. Overall length is only up 0.1 inch. The track has been widened 40/12mm front/rear.

2013 SRT Viper vs 2014 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series! [Head 2 Head Episode 36]

On this episode of Head 2 Head, Motor Trend’s Jonny Lieberman pits two members of the “more than 600 horsepower club” against each other - the 2013 SRT Viper & the 2014 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series. It’s a three-bout heavyweight match that begins with real world canyon carving, moves on to an all-out quarter mile drag race, and then finishes with blistering hot laps around Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca with hot shoe Randy Pobst.

Despite a huge gap in price, both of these long-nosed, front-engine, RWD, two-seat brawlers represent significant revisions of their wild predecessors. Will good old fashion American muscle beat out German Engineering? Join us as we find out.

2013 BMW 750Li vs 2013 Jaguar XJL Supercharged! [Head 2 Head Episode 35]

On this episode of Head 2 Head, Motor Trend’s Jonny Lieberman gets behind the wheel of two of the finest long wheelbase luxury sedans - the 2013 BMW 750Li and the Jaguar XJL Supercharged - to see which one of them does justice to their $100,000 plus price tags.

First, Jonny heads to the track to see what kinds of numbers these large, premium sedans put down, then he sees how they both handle on the rough roads outside of Santa Barbara, before finally getting chauffered in the back seat of the cars to examine their distinct approaches to high-end luxury.

So which one will stand out as the best in its class? Stay tuned to find out.

2013 Audi S4 AWD vs 2013 Volvo S60 T6 AWD R-Design! [Head 2 Head Episode 34]

On this episode of Head 2 Head, Motor Trend’s Jonny Lieberman pits the 2013 Volvo S60 T6 AWD R-Design against returning contender, the 2013 Audi S4.

Before hitting the road, the engine placements of both competing sedans are compared against segment contemporaries such the Cadillac ATS & BMW’s 335i. Why? Because while both competitors are AWD, they start life as FWD. As a result, both vehicles have unusual engine placements.

A mix of limit testing & canyon carving follows as Jonny provides insight on both cars, examining everything from driving impressions to interior ergonomics.

Does Volvo’s beefed up S60 have what it takes to dethrone Audi’s “sleeper sedan?”

Jaguar F-Type V8S vs Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster vs Porsche 911 Carrera S Convertible [Chris Harris On Cars]

490hp, small, very pretty: is that enough to make the fastest F-Type a 911 rival? And would an Aston do the job of a Brit roadster better? This video might expand on some of these points.
