PREVIEW: Cosworth 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupé

Famed British engineering design and manufacturer Cosworth has collaborated with Hyundai to develop the “ultimate” Genesis Coupe in the form of the Cosworth Genesis Racing Series (CGRS) Concept, to be displayed for the first time ever at the upcoming 2012 SEMA show at the end of October.

As with any other Cosworth-prepped model, the highlight of the Genesis Racing Series study is the power lurking under the hood.

The British brand’s engineers were able to squeeze another 41-horsepower and 30 lb-ft of peak torque from the standard 3.8-liter direct-injection V6 lifting output to 389Hp at 6,400 rpm and 325 lb.-ft. at 5,100 rpm, all while keeping the car street legal.

The SEMA Show model is also fitted with Cosworth brakes and sports suspension to improve handling.

Schmidt Revolution 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupé

The German Hyundai dealer “Autohaus am Funkturm” has worked together with Schmidt Revolution, a wheel manufacturer and customizer, to complete the project.

The mechanical upgrades include a custom exhaust system, complete with a sport catalyst from INJEN and a KW sports suspension kit, while the car now rides on a new set of 20-inch, two-piece aluminum wheels from Schmidt Revolution wrapped around Falken performance tires size 235/30-20 at the front amd 275/30-20 on the rear axle.

The rear-wheel drive coupe’s appearance is further modified with a new rear apron and diffuser, a rear wing, a different front grille painted in black with a GT logo and carbon fiber trim on the front bumper.

Thetuning projectis rounded out by a new high-end audio system from Pioneer.
