The Post-Punk / New Wave Super Friends by Butcher Billy

Would it be the effect of their contribution to a cultural movement? Is it  the way they impact the time and the generation they are targeting? Or just how their  exposure constitutes a defining characteristic of a given society or era?

As a child of the 80’s I was heavily influenced by everything from saturday morning cartoons on TV to the music coming from the radio. Ian Curtis or Johnny Rotten are as iconic to me as Superman or Batman. Real people or imaginary characters, the incorruptible ideals of perfect superheroes or the human flaws and desires sometimes so desperately depicted in song lyrics - all of those influences affect us to the point of defining our character and personality, career paths and life choices.

The references we are exposed and specifically the ones we choose to absorb make us who we are. Who are your heroes?

Blacksmithing Klingon Bat’leth (Star Trek) [Man At Arms]

Every week our master swordsmith and renowned propmaster, Tony Swatton, forges iconic weapons using high-speed belt grinders, scorching furnaces, and pounding power hammers. Then he takes his weapon to the streets to bust up some stuff.

This week Tony is creating Worf’s Klingon Bat’leth.

NOTE: Tony Swatton and Man At Arms have no connection to or involvement with the Star Trek franchise.

Blood Angels Space Marine Cosplay at LinCon 2013

This is a Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine Blood Angel Tactical Sergeant, 7th company, 9th squad, costume as a fan. Improved version.

About 400 hours in making, spread over 10 months. The current weight is 25 kg.

Hight: About 215 cm/7’ (about 183 cm/6’ without armor). (To be able to move around easier and be able to use my own hands, the size is a compromize between proper SM size and a normal human).

Method: Pepakura (foam+hot glue) and some modifications to make it look more like the miniatures. And some aluminum rods, and screws and electronics.

Cost of materials: At the present about 2500€.
Eyes built from modified Glospex: www.goglospex.com/standard/
Motion sounds comes from a Mega Stomp Panic from: www.thinkgeek.com
Getting dressed takes about 15 minutes, and requires a servitor.
No comissions.
