Sergio Marchionne will soon say goodbye to his beloved 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 as it will go up for auction, alongside Mopar’s latest 426 HEMI V8 crate engine. Both items will go under the hammer at the April 4-6 Barrett-Jackson auction in Palm Beach, Florida.
Marchionne’s one-of-a-kind pitch black 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 comes with a set of custom mixed “Dark Charcoal” racing stripes, a lowered suspension that uses a Mopar adjustable coil-over kit and a Mopar exhaust system.
The smoked taillights and 392 HEMI fender badges re-created in gloss and satin black finishes contribute to the car’s aggressive appearance, as well as the factory forged 20-inch wheels with a matte black finish.
The Chrysler and Fiat CEO will have to learn to live without the grunt of the 6.4-liter (392-cubic-inch) HEMI V8 engine that delivers a hefty 470 horsepower and 470 lb-ft (637 Nm) of torque. He will surely miss its 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) time of less than 5 seconds and its quarter-mile time of under 13 seconds. Fuel economy is not bad either, at 23 mpg (10.2 liters/100 km) on the highway thanks to the car’s six-speed manual transmission.
The money raised from the auction will go to United Way for Southeastern Michigan to be used for education, income and basic needs of people in the Detroit area.
