This footage was reportedly shot during some of sort of demonstration by the Slovakian Police force, but one that did not go exactly as planned – and that’s probably a huge understatement.
In the staged scene, Slovakian cops driving a Kia Cee’d hatchback and a Nissan X-Trail were chasing a criminal in an old Skoda Favorit. They were supposed to stop in an orderly fashion and sprint out to capture the offender, but instead, the X-Trail crashed into the Cee’d!
To their credit, the police officers continued the show as if nothing happened, though, it looks like the driver will have some explaining to do…
The Pro_cee’d follows the introduction of the five-door hatchback and the Sportswagon estate and is anticipated to hit European showroom floors in the first half of 2013.
The new model isn’t simply a three-door version of the regular Cee’d as it sports a different design from the A-pillars and back including a more rakish roofline, heavily pronounced rear fenders, together with new lights and tailgate. In addition, there are new fog lamp surrounds and chrome strips that connect the grille to the lights up front.
On the other hand and aside from the differences in space, the interior revisions seem to be limited to the trim décor of the dashboard and door panels.
Perceived as Kia’s most serious effort to gain foot in Europe’s highly popular C-segment with rivals such as the VW Golf and Ford Focus, the brand-new Cee’d combines a more youthful and dynamic exterior with a higher quality and more upmarket looking interior.
The Cee’d shares its underpinnings and engine range with the also new Hyundai i30, which will be launched in North America as the Elantra GT.
Engine options include a 1.4-liter petrol delivering 89hp (90PS), a 1.6-liter petrol with 128hp (130PS), and two diesels, a 1.4-liter unit producing 89hp (90PS) and a 1.6-liter with up to 126hp (128PS).
All powerplants will be offered with a choice of manual or automatic six-speed transmissions, while the 1.6-liter GDI petrol will also be optionally available with Kia’s six-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT).
Kia’s upcoming entry in the VW Golf segment features a more mature and upmarket styling with the large lights on either end of the car taking center stage. The Cee’d also gets Kia’s new signature grille encompassed in a chrome surround.
