2014 Audi RS5 vs 2014 Mercedes-Benz C63 507 Coupé! [Head 2 Head Episode 51]

On this episode of Head 2 Head, Jonny Lieberman sets out to discover which German hot-rod-personal-luxury-coupe is the best you can get.

The 507 Coupe is the last iteration of the W204 C63. With the exception of the very limited-run Black Series, it’s the best C63 that AMG has ever done. Under its hood sits a hand-built, 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V-8 good for 507 horsepower. What more do you want?

Perhaps something more high-tech, and that’s where the Audi RS5 comes in. The sexy coupe from Quattro GmbH in Neckarsulm features a 4.2-liter V-8 that spits out 450 hp. That¹s less power than the 507 Coupe makes, true, but the Audi also features AWD, a dual-clutch transmission, bigger wheels and tires, plus a trick torque-vectoring rear differential.

Which one is quicker? Which one is more fun to drive? Which one is best? Watch and find out!

Porsche 911 GT3 vs Aston Martin V12 Vantage S vs Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series [Chris Harris On Cars]

2014 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Edition 507 Wagon! The Modern Hammer Wagon? [Ignition Episode 76]

On this episode of Ignition, Jonny Lieberman travels to Germany to drive a car we don’t get, the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Edition 507 Wagon.

Through the winding roads of the Black Forest to the mean straights of Germany’s notorious Autobahn, Lieberman puts the 507 horsepower, 450 pound-feet of torque super wagon through its paces.

The question isn’t whether or not a wagon fanatic like Lieberman likes the 507 wagon (he does), but if the new AMG grocery hauler can live up to the legend that came before it, the mighty Hammer Wagon.

2013MY Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG “Edition 507”

Merc’s Affalterbach-based performance division has decided to sprinkle a little of the SLS magic on the C-Class. Thus it launched the C 63 AMG “Edition 507” that puts out 500HP (507PS) and 610 Nm (450 lb-ft) of torque; that makes it 50 ponies more powerful than the stock C 63 AMG and beats the AMG Development Packaged equipped version by 20HP.

Unlike the Black Series, though, which only comes as a coupe, the “Edition 507” will be available as a sedan and an estate, too, with the latter being one tenth of a second slower than the other two on the 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint.

Externally, the new version features dark-tinted headlamps, an aluminum bonnet with two air outlets “borrowed” from the Black Series variant, new 19-inch lightweight alloys with 235/35 front and 255/30 rear tires, a high-gloss black finish on details like the surrounds of the grille and the daytime driving lights, and an exclusive platinum paintjob..

Power is still directed to the rear wheels via the 7-Speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT auto gearbox, while stopping is taken care off by carbon ceramic discs that measure 360 mm in diameter up front and feature six- and four-piston red calipers at the front and rear respectively.

The C 63 AMG “Edition 507” will make its international debut at the Geneva Motor Show on March 5. The sales release will begin on April 8 and the market launch in Germany in June.

Prior Design Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupé AMG Black Edition

Prior Design has developed a styling package that can turn your regular C-Class Coupe into a looker.

The German tuner’s aero kit mimics the looks and styling of the original C63 AMG Coupe Black Edition adding a new front with an integrated lip spoiler, a wide rear bumper with a diffusor, side skirts, wide front and rear wheel fenders and hood vents.

The price of Prior Design’s wide body kit is €7,900 or about GBP 6,415 and US$10,300, though it is not noted if it includes installation (probably not).

To complete the look you will have to add a set of alloy wheels, spacers and different tires, which are also available from Prior Design.

New 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA Already Available in… Die Cast Miniature Form

While Mercedes-Benz is trying to keep a tight hold on the upcoming CLA compact sports saloon, having only released bits and pieces of information along with pictures and videos of camouflaged prototypes, now, pictures of what is said to be a 1/18 scale a die-cast model of the new CLA have surfaced on the internet!

The detailed model shown here depicts the regular CLA in AMG trim guise, which adds an exterior styling package and a host of bespoke interior features such as the front sport seats.

From what we’ve heard, we’ll only have to wait a few weeks for the first public appearance of the new CLA, which will take place at the Detroit auto show in mid-January, with sales likely to follow towards the end of the year or in early 2014.
