Subaru BRZ record breaking top speed run

Time for another round at the autobahn! The Subaru BRZ is a fantastic car and has been reviewed as one of the best and most fun to drive cars of the year.

Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson recently drove the Toyota version and said - “…hand on heart, this was one of my favourite cars.

It’s not slow — it really isn’t — it’s just that you have to work to get performance from it, but is that a problem? It sounds sweet, is smooth and has the best throttle response of anything here, 911 included.”

The handling on the car is unreal as well which the whole Top Gear crew apparently had nothing but amazing things to say as well.

For anyone who doubts the Subaru and thinks it is a “slow” car this video should prove otherwise.

Scion FR-S vs. Subaru BRZ on Track [ Everyday Driver]

2013 Subaru BRZ Top Speed Run… On The Autobahn!

At the end of May I got a call from the Subaru dealership telling me my 2013 BRZ Limited had arrived and was ready for me to take delivery. After a grueling 1,000 mile break-in period I was looking forward to see what the car was capable of.

I shipped the car to the Autobahn to do some high speed runs in the car and attempt the top speed.

The car is limited by its aerodynamics unfortunately so I had to get a good stretch which favored the car which allowed me to get up to 147 MPH.

This isn’t very high speed compared to other exotic cars but for a 200HP Subaru I was very impressed seeing what it’s capable of on the top speed spectrum!

For those of you who don’t know this is a rear wheel drive Subaru and the car is fantastic to drive along with drifting ;)

Drag Race: 2013 Subaru BRZ Vs 1999 Honda S2000 [Motorsport]

Find out which front engine, rear-wheel drive coupe reigns supreme!

CORRECTION - On the spec chart, the BRZ engine should be listed as simply a Flat-4. It is definitely not turbocharged!

Subaru Kicks Off Series Production of BRZ and Toyota 86 in Japan

The two Japanese automakers first agreed on business collaboration in October 2005, and after expanding their ties with new agreements related to development and production in April 2008, they began designing the coupe models, the production versions of which were presented at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show last December.
At the ceremony, Toyota’s President Akio Toyoda said: “I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the ceaseless efforts of all FHI people and staff who were involved in the development, production and preparations for both models. The Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86 would not have been successfully developed without collaboration between FHI and TMC.”
Yasuyuki Yoshinaga, the president of Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd, which is Subaru’s parent company, said: “The car symbolizes our corporate strategy in two significant aspects: good progress of our alliances; and advancement of our “select and focus” approach.”
