Aston Martin DB9 vs Mercedes-Benz CL65 AMG! [Head 2 Head Episode 26]
German engineering meets British charm as Jonny Lieberman pits the 2013 Mercedes-Benz CL65 AMG against the 2013 Aston Martin DB9 on this episode of Head 2 Head. While both brands are synonymous with luxury, underneath their hoods lies some seriously massive hand built V-12 engines. Dynamic testing & mountain roads await as we find out which is the better super coupe for the modestly wealthy.
The DBS-replacing Vanquish adopts the next generation of Aston Martin’s VH bonded aluminium monocoque architecture as well as an upgraded 5.9-litre V12 engine generating 565hp (573PS) and 620Nm (457 lb-ft) of torque.
Aston Martin says that the coupe model is capable of a 0-62 mph (100km/h) time of 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 183 mph (295km/h).
The Vanquish will be available as a 2+2 or 2+0 seater with first deliveries expected to begin in the UK and Continental Europe late in 2012, and in North America early next year.
Prices will start from £189,995 RRP in the UK, US$279,995 MSRP in the States and CA$296,000 in Canada.
Finished in an Onyx Black shade, the Kahn-prepped Rapide is outfitted with a front bumper grille mesh in matte black, bonnet vents in billet, black brake calipers, side vent grilles in matte black and privacy glass.
The most interesting feature of the lite makeover, however, are the new 21-inch RSX-F forged alloy wheels in platinum silver finish with original Aston Martin center caps.
The only performance modifications are a sports suspension kit that lowers the ride height and a custom exhaust system.
Like most other proposals from Kahn, the Rapide’s interior can be customized to the buyer’s preferences
